Nascar driver Kasey Kahne and Target 'Nurse-Ins': Why Is Public Breast-Feeding Still an Issue?

A controversial tweet from NASCAR driver Kasey Kahne and "nurse-in" demonstrations by breast-feeding mothers at Target stores nationwide this week have re-ignited the debate about nursing in public.

The question of whether it is appropriate for nursing mothers to breast-feed in public areas elicits passionate responses on both sides of the argument. Those against it believe breast-feeding should be done in private, saying it makes them uncomfortable to see a mother nursing her child out in the open. Those who support nursing in public contend that the practice is normal, natural and a mother's right.

Kahne found himself in hot water Tuesday when he said on Twitter that a woman's breast-feeding in public was "nasty."

"Just walking though supermarket. See a mom breast feeding little kid. Took second look because obviously I was seeing things. I wasn't! #nasty," the racer said in a tweet to his more than 100,000 followers.

His tweet prompted a firestorm of comments from both men and women, many of whom chastised Kahne for being insensitive, telling him to "grow up." But several others agreed with him. Kahne issued an apology on his Facebook page Wednesday, ESPN.com first reported:
I tried to confirm this but was unable to. I was told by someone that the mother that Kahne witnessed was nursing a two-year-old kid?

I don't believe anyone has the right to tell a mom where she can nurse her child. It is a very natural and healthy way for a mother to feed her child. I won't argue with that since I was also a nursing mom.

However, this is where I am sure I am going to receive some flack. Openly breastfeeding in public can be upsetting to some people, so using good judgment helps a nursing mom steer clear of uncomfortable situations and controversy. Like being asked to go to a more private or secluded place. Some stores and restaurants even provide an area for nursing moms. The bathroom IS NOT an appropriate place for a mother to nurse her hungry child. That's just disgusting and unsanitary.

I would recommend to nursing mothers to be respectful of those who are not comfortable with it and honestly, I wouldn't appreciate my two young sons seeing a woman's bare naked breast. That's just me.

There are many and very lovely breast blankets and covers, shawls, scarfs slings, and even special shirts designed for discreet nursing. There is no reason at all for a nursing mother to just pull out her breast, for the whole world to see, and begin to nurse her child. Sometimes these women do it out of defiance or pride that they can. My opinion folks.

Found this interesting: While the appropriate age to wean a child is not set in stone, it is culturally acceptable in America to nurse a child for the first twelve months. Once solid foods are introduced into the child’s diet and they begin to walk, American customs call for the weaning of the child.

Okay, so why do we see mothers still feeding their children after the age of 2 or even 4 years of age? And some, even at the ages of 6 or 7 years of age? How would you feel witnessing that?

PHILLY COUNCILWOMAN WILL ‘RETIRE’ FOR ONE DAY, COLLECT A $478K PENSION, AND RETURN ON MONDAY

Philadelphia is known as the city of brotherly love and, apparently, paying out massive pensions to public employees who will continue working for the city.

Marion B. Tasco, who has been described as being “politically savvy,” will retire from her sixth term as councilwoman, collect $478,057, and then be sworn in on Monday to serve her seventh term.

How does she get away with this?

Tasco, along with many of her fellow Council members, is enrolled in Philadelphia’s Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP). DROP allows city workers to collect salary and build up pension money during the last four years of their employment, writes Aaron Kase of Philadelphia Weekly.

Naturally, when DROP was originally introduced, it was touted as being “revenue neutral.” It’s been anything but that. SInce its introduction, Philadelphia’s DROP program has cost the city $258million in extra pension costs over a decade, according to a 2010 Boston College study.

Philadelphia’s Mayor Nutter has tried on numerous occasions to eliminate the DROP program.

“In September, Council voted to override Nutter’s veto of a bill, sponsored by Tasco that would preserve the DROP program, while reducing its cost,” writes Jan Ransom of the Daily. Nutter has vowed to work “tirelessly” to abolish the program.

And his attempts didn’t deter Tasco.

“While many of Tasco’s fellow council members dropped out of the re-election race after controversy broke out over their enrollment in DROP, Tasco stayed in the race and won,” writes Robert Johnson of Business Insider.

That means, come Monday, she will be elected as City Councilwoman for Philadelphia’s Ninth District, with all the pay and benefits that come with that position — as well as an additional $478,057.

As Business Insider points out, the city’s web page touts Tasco “as one of Philadelphia’s most influential, politically savvy, and pro-active public officials.”

Over the next few days, Tasco could be proving that claim correct.


This wasn't mentioned in the article, but can you guess what political party she represents? If you answered Democrat, you are correct. Surprised? I am not.

This is a perfect example of how politicians have turned their backs on their constituents and are robbing them blind. The majority of them are corrupt and have no qualms about hurting hard-working taxpayers. They are, quite, literally yanking the food from our hands.

How she was able to get re-elected is beyond my comprehension. She should be fired or locked up for misdirection of funds. She should not be allowed to collect that money, it doesn't belong to her. This is stealing, plain and simple.

I am curious to know if the schmucks who voted for her are regretting it, as much as those who voted for the narcissist, who is presently in office and continues find ways of crippling our struggling nation. He actually has the audacity to ask congress to raise the debt ceiling to $1.2 trillion. So, he can pay bills on time. Really? Is anyone else buying this BS?

These people are nothing but political, blood-thirsty parasites. And they only way to get rid of them is to vote them out of office, permanently.

A perfect way to start is asking for photo ID's of all voters before they even step near a voting booth.

‘Batman’ Actor Attempts to Visit Persecuted Pro-Life Activist in China

(CNSNews.com) – Chai Ling, a former leader of the Tiananmen Square protests against Communist Chinese rule, wrote a letter to actor Christian Bale, thanking him for his attempt to visit Chinese pro-life activist Chen Guangcheng, who has been persecuted for years by Communist authorities and is currently under house arrest.

Bale, in China for a movie premiere on Dec. 15, tried to visit with Chen Guangchange, a blind, self-taught lawyer who opposes China’s one-child policy and forced abortions. When Bale approached Chen’s house, Communist authorities pushed him around, knocked over a news cameraman, and forced the actor to leave.

Chen was arrested in 2006 and sentenced to four years in prison following his exposure of 130,000 forced sterilizations and abortions in his village in 2005. Rumors about his health -- he lost his sight at an early age and has been beaten frequently by Chinese authorities -- have strengthened the call for his release from house arrest coming from human rights groups throughout China and in other nations.

Concerning Bale’s attempted visit to the activist, Chai Ling said in a letter to the actor: “I pray that you will continue to remember your experience when you return to the US and that you will continue to be a voice for the voiceless.”

Chai Ling also mentioned other attempts by human rights volunteers to visit with Chen for the National Day of the Blind, which resulted in the volunteers being pushed away, threatened, and, like Bale, followed by security forces in a car.

I am usually not complimentary of Hollywood actors, but I must admit this article surprised me.  Do I believe this may have been a publicity stunt by Bale?  Or were his intentions sincere? I will go ahead and give him the benefit of the doubt and believe that he was being genuine.

Most of us who live in free nations tend to take for granted all of our freedoms, when there are so many still on under less than livable circumstances.  They are constantly under strict and cruel rules governed by a cold and ruthless dictatorship.

Mr. Chen is a true hero, a courageous and strong person who, regardless of cruel and unusual punishment, has decided to speak out for those who are forever silenced by their own government.  

My hope is that Mr. Bale will take what he learned in China and will bring it to the United States and speak out for the children who are denied the right to live.  If only more people would begin to speak out against the atrocities of abortion many lives would be saved.  

Defense department agrees to allow Muslim cadets to wear hijabs

Sorry I was a bit remiss in my posts. But it was a beautiful Christmas weekend. Although, I did have to work today, still catching up on chores, etc. And to top things off my dishwasher decided to give up the ghost last night.  So, as of today, I will be hand washing dishes for quite a long time.  Oh, the humanity!!

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) announced today that the Department of Defense will begin allowing Muslim and Sikh students who wear an Islamic head scarf (hijab) or a turban to participate in the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC).

“We welcome the fact that Muslim and Sikh students nationwide will now be able to participate fully in JROTC leadership activities while maintaining their religious beliefs and practices,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.

In October, the Washington-based Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization wrote to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta after a 14-year-old Muslim student at Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, Tenn., was forced to transfer out of a JROTC class when her commanding officers told her she could not wear hijab while marching in the September homecoming parade.

CAIR requested constitutionally-protected religious accommodations for the girl and for future Muslim JROTC participants.

In a Dec. 19 letter sent to CAIR, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army Larry Stubblefield wrote:

”I have been asked to respond on behalf of the Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta to your October 13, 2011 letter concerning Miss Demin Zawity’s request to wear a religious head covering (hijab) while participating in an Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) event at Ravenwood High School.

“Based on your concerns, the Army has reviewed its JROTC uniform policy and will develop appropriate procedures to provide Cadets the opportunity to request the wear of religious head dress, such as the turban and hijab. This change will allow Miss Zawity and other students the chance to fully participate in the JROTC program. Additionally, a representative from the U.S. Army Cadet Command will contact Miss Zawity and provide her the opportunity to rejoin the Ravenwood High School JROTC unit.

“The Army prides itself in being a diverse organization, comprised of individuals from many faiths and religions. We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention.”

What is happening to the face our military? What happened to conformity? I know I am beginning to sound redundant but come on!  

This is America! Not bloody Pakistan, not Iraq, not Jordan, America! No compromise, either they wear the uniform as it was meant to be worn, or find some other extra curricular activity.  Americans should not be forced to acquiesce to CAIR demands.

When is this going to end. This political correctness BS run amok, again.

I do not appreciate our military being forced to comply with Muslim demands.

Commission details 675 honour killings in Pakistan in nine-month period

AT least 675 Pakistani women and girls were murdered during the first nine months of the year for allegedly defaming their family's honour, a leading human rights group said today.

The statistics highlight the scale of violence suffered by many women in conservative Muslim Pakistan, where they are frequently treated as second-class citizens and there is no law against domestic violence.

Despite some progress on better protecting women's rights, activists say the government needs to do far more to prosecute murderers in cases largely dismissed by police as private, family affairs.

"A total of 675 women and girls were killed in the name of honour across Pakistan from January to September," a senior official in the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan said.

They included at least 71 victims under the age of 18.


And this is why I will never stop posting on the violence against women in the religion of Islam. They deserve to have rights and they should be protected as well as their daughters.

These women are raped, burned and mutilated just because their sadistic husbands or even men in their own families feel justified because women are portrayed than nothing more than property.

Where are the voices of the feminists in this nation? Where is their outrage? Or do they see Muslim women as beneath them and not give a rats-rear-end because these women are domestics? (Through no choice of their own, I might add.)

Honestly, I am simply shocked of how little attention these cases receive and only viewed as isolated incidents, when in fact they are not.

Women deserve to choose whom they marry, where they live and even their religion. No man should have that much control over another person.

BANGLADESHI MAN CHOPS OFF WIFE’S FINGERS FOR STUDYING FOR A DEGREE

Human rights groups in Bangladesh have mobilized in requesting severe punishment for 30-year-old Rafiqul Islam, who has admitted to using a machete to cut off his 21-year-old wife Hawa Akther Jui’s fingers on her right hand as punishment for pursuing higher education without his permission.BBC News reports the sickening news:

“The incident is one of a number of acts of domestic violence targeting educated women in recent months.

Police say that Mr Islam, who works in the United Arab Emirates, tied up his 21-year-old wife, Hawa Akther Jui, earlier this month. He then taped her mouth and cut off the five fingers.

Doctors say the fingers cannot be re-attached and it appears that Ms Akther will have to live with permanent disfigurement.”

Jui told the BBC that her husband had taped her mouth shut and blindfolded her, “saying that he would give me some surprise gifts.”

The Daily Star of Bangladesh reports that several hundred people of Narsingdi, organized by Narsingdi Debate Forum, made a human chain across a busy road in the city Saturday to protest the horrid crime. Hundreds of people have reportedly vistied Jui’s residence every day to express empathy with her.

Mohammed Saluddin, the Bangladesh police chief said that Mr Islam had confessed after he was arrested in the capital, Dhaka, and will face charges of permanent disfiguration. Human rights groups have called for life imprisonment.

The Daily Mail reports that the attack is only the latest in a series of violent acts against educated women in the “Muslim-majority company.”

In June, an unemployed man gouged out the eyes of his wife, an assistant professor at Dhaka University, apparently because he could not stand her pursuing higher studies at a Canadian University.

So much for the peaceful religion of Islam. Another fine example of how these despicable men treat their wives and women in general. 

This poor young woman, I cannot imagine her pain and horror. How horrible to be born into such savagery where women absolutely have no rights whatsoever. 

Her only crime? Education.  Apparently this heinous crime  merited torture and getting her fingers chopped off?  

And yet, people like Obama and Clinton and liberals in general, prefer to fund and support the LGBT movement rather than using it to help these poor women who had the misfortune of being born in Muslim nations. They are the true victims.  Slavery and being subservient are their only option. If they choose otherwise, they suffer great and brutal consequences.

California rewarding illegals, encouraging crime

The Golden State is rewarding illegal behavior by handing out incentives to illegal immigrants, and he expects that to encourage more crime.

The state Legislative Analyst's Office estimates that the California Dream Act could hand out $65 million to illegal immigrant students, which is more than four times what was expected. Initially, the Department of Finance projected that AB 131 would give out roughly $14.5 million. The new state law, signed by Governor Jerry Brown in October, would also give illegal immigrants the right to apply for public financial aid.

"It's going to cost us a fortune," warns Southern California Patriot Coalition founder and spokesman Jeff Schwilk. "We see the results of these initiatives. The state is absolutely broke, and they just keep adding more debt to the bankrupt situation."

Opponents of the California Dream Act are pushing an initiative that would take the issue to the voters in the 2012 election. In the meantime, Schwilk is concerned that the new law will tax the California taxpayers and encourage crime.

"It's just that you're rewarding illegal behavior, and any time you do that, you can expect more illegal behavior," he concludes.

And people wonder why California is bankrupt?  Doesn't take a mathematical genius to figure that out.

Below are 10 steps to stop illegal immigration.  

Ten Steps to Ending Illegal Immigration. It is important to realize that the proposals outlined below are not separate, but are interdependent parts of an overall plan to end illegal immigration--a plan that can succeed. The following are the key recommendations.

The loopholes that facilitate illegal immigration must be closed.

We need to:

• use expeditious exclusion of fraudulent entrants at airports;
• limit the Attorney General's excess authority to parole aliens into the country;
• cap the number of asylum grantees;
• reinstitute authority for the Border Patrol to conduct open-field searches;
• stop seventy-two-hour deportation notices (known as "run letters");
• eliminate legalistic delaying tactics in immigration hearings;
• eliminate the visa waiver program.

Incentives for illegal immigration must be eliminated.

We need to:

• stop giving citizenship to the children of illegal aliens and foreign visitors;
• withhold work authorization to those with pending asylum claims;
• establish a universal system for checking welfare and work eligibility;
• end all public benefits for illegal aliens.

The penalties for violating immigration law must be increased.

We need to:

• bar from later immigration those who make frivolous asylum applications and 'no-shows';
• make alien smuggling and document fraud into racketeering crimes;
• bar reentry to any alien receiving a five-year prison sentence;
• withhold funds from localities that refuse to cooperate with efforts to end illegal immigration;
• hold sponsors accountable for immigrants they sponsor;
• deport immigrants who become public charges.

Existing programs that are particularly effective must be expanded.

We need to:

• widen use of pre-inspection programs abroad and frequent-traveler inspection procedures;
• extend the Border Patrol canine program and highway checkpoint system;
• expand the institutional hearing program and the special U.S. Attorneys program;
• increase interior repatriation and deportation hearings of criminal aliens by telephone;
• broaden the assets seizure program.

Government agencies must coordinate their efforts better and more extensively.

We need to:

• improve coordination between border agencies and between intelligence agencies;
• limit judicial review of immigration decisions and expand judicial deportation;
• give the National Security Council a role in ending illegal immigration;
• combine the immigration service (INS) work form with the IRS work form;
• speed notification to INS of jailed aliens, including certified records of conviction.

A greater investment must be made in the personnel who combat illegal immigration.

We need to:

• increase personnel in Inspections, Intelligence, Border Patrol, and Detention and Deportation;
• reduce temporary employees in INS Inspections and increase the permanent staff;
• dedicate investigators to work solely on employment of illegal aliens;
• expand on-going training programs for inspectors, intelligence officers, and investigators;
• establish systematic performance reviews of immigration judges.

Top-of-the-line equipment must be available to the enforcers of immigration law.

We need to:

• provide a facility for INS classified information;
• establish equipment plans for INS Intelligence, the Border Patrol, and Investigations;
• improve vehicle fleets of the Border Patrol, Investigations, and Detention and Deportation;
• create a centralized case database for INS Investigations.

New technology must be harnessed to the battle against illegal immigration.

We need to:

• introduce new, up-to-date technology in Inspections, the Border Patrol, and Investigations;
• create a secure intelligence database and distribution system;
• set up a verification system for welfare and work eligibility.

And my own idea, English should be the official language of the United States.  

Clinton, Obama promote gay rights as human rights around the world

Geneva, Switzerland (CNN) -- U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton challenged nations around the world Tuesday to recognize that "gay rights are human rights and human rights are gay rights," building on an order by President Barack Obama directing all U.S. agencies to "promote and protect" the rights of gay people,

In an impassioned defense of such rights, Clinton called the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people "universal" and criticized nations that criminalize gay behavior or tolerate abuse of gay, bisexual or transgendered people

Clinton made the unusually strong speech as Obama announced a presidential directive to use U.S. foreign aid to promote rights for gays and lesbians abroad, including combating attempts by foreign governments to criminalize homosexuality and making treatment of gays a factor in awarding foreign aid.

The remarks were meant to mark Human Rights Day, which is Saturday. The date commemorates the 1948 signing of the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights.

Speaking to the U.N. Human Rights Council, before an audience that included diplomats from Arab, African and other countries with poor records on gay rights, Clinton said religious beliefs and cultural practices are no excuse for discriminating or tolerating violence against gay people.

As part of the administration's effort, Clinton announced a $3 million fund to support civil society and non-governmental organization activists working on the subject, as well as enhancing protection for refugees and asylum seekers who are being persecuted because of LGBT status.

What is Obama and Clinton's obsession with the radical LGBT activist agenda? And what about funding  REAL HUMAN rights abuses?  Such as helping or aiding the oppressed women in Muslim nations, such as Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Pakistan, etc.?  Or what about Christians being persecuted, driven out or worse, executed in Muslim or communist nations????  What about protecting children and women who are forced into human trafficking?    Did you know that  There is only one shelter in the U.S. designed specifically to meet the needs of trafficking victims, and it currently only houses a total of seven to nine victims.  I may have to dedicate an entire post on this subject.  THESE are prime examples of REAL HUMAN RIGHTS abuses, NOT the LGBT agenda or movement.  

I agree with Matt Barber's statement of Liberty Counsel:  

It is "frankly offensive," that president Obama "feels compelled to export American culture's decline in morality, and export that immorality to other nations that are trying to adhere to traditional principles relative to human sexuality." 

He further states that Obama, "is using essentially blackmail and the purse strings" of the nation to force countries to change their moral principles."

The arrogance of Obama and his administration is clearly demonstrated with this whole immoral and political debacle.  Last time I have checked, Obama is not supreme potentate of the world, even though he believes himself to be and someone needs to knock him off his narcissist a**!

Herman Cain Suspends Republican Presidential Campaign

Herman Cain announced Saturday that he is suspending his campaign for president, telling a crowd of supporters in his home state that the allegations of sexual harassment and infidelity had become too big a burden on his family.

His wife Gloria standing by his side in a rare public appearance, Cain decried the sustained accusations as false and declared he is "at peace" with his wife and with himself. But he said the claims have "sidetracked and distracted" from his ability to present a new vision for the country, as well as impacted his ability to raise money.

And he spoke with disdain about the media, the "political elites" and the process of running for president, one he called "a dirty game."

Cain said he takes "responsibility for the mistakes that I've made," but scolded the media for pursuing what he described as "false and unproved allegations" which created a "cloud of doubt" over him and his family.

"That spin hurts," Cain said. "It hurts my wife. It hurts my family. It hurts me."

I sat there watching the announcement and was hoping and saying out loud "don't say it."  "Don't say it." Well, he said it and I cannot begin to articulate my sadness of this announce nor could I hide my anger towards the MSM for completely destroying any hope of this man's candidacy for president. They are a brutal and heartless group of people who have no qualms in destroying the lives of innocent people. And yes, I do believe Mr. Cain was innocent of every allegation.

When he spoke the following words, I was a bit comforted. "I am at peace with My God, my wife, my family and myself."  

He spoke with such deep sincerity. Yes, I am very disappointed and discouraged. I am NOT a fan of Gingrich or Romney.  Arghh....

Cain was the real deal. He was not ashamed of his faith, he was proud of his meager upbringing. He dad was a chauffeur and his mother a housekeeper. This man knew the meaning of the word, "work"  and was not afraid of it. He worked hard and got an education and became a very successful businessman.  

The MSM laughed and mocked him calling him the "Pizza Man."  He was the CEO of God Father's Pizza. A well-earned title.  Nothing to be ashamed of.

"Teddy Bear," the porcupine, doesn't like to share...

I know I keep post fun things in between my political stuff.

But someone shared this video with me on Facebook. And I can understand Teddy not wanting to share, I think I make the same sound when someone wants a sip of my snicker's latte or mocha latte. Yeah, Teddy has the teeth to fend of the would-be snatcher, I can just growl menacingly. LOL!!
