Would-be wrestling champ chose beliefs over winning

There are still a few good kids out in the world that know and respect their elders, they honor God with their lives and respect others regardless of peer pressure or the immoral pressures of society.  I congratulate this boy's parents for raising such an upright young man who stood by his convictions.
He certainly could teach the kids of his generation at thing or two about maturity and so much more.

Russ Jones - OneNewsNow:  The whole article
A high school wrestler from Iowa created a national stir when he placed his Christian convictions above winning and refused to compete against a girl at last week's state tournament.

Joel Northrup, a home-schooled sophomore, holds a 35-4 wrestling record for Linn-Mar High School in West Des Moines, Iowa. But last week, he would not compete against Cassy Herkelman, one of only two girls to make the state wrestling tournament since its inception in 1926. While it was difficult to miss a chance to win the state tournament, he says the decision to forfeit to a girl was made long before the opportunity presented itself.

"We had kind of known that there were already two girls that were my weight in 3-A that might have a shot of making it to state, and we prayed about it all year," he shares. "And I'd already made the decision not to wrestle her."

Christian symbols (cross, icthys)Joel's father, Jamie Northrup, serves in various ministry positions at Believers in Grace Fellowship in Marion and says his son's witness through this situation has blessed many around the world. He believes "the Lord will use all our children in these last days in their areas to glorify Him."

But young Northrup's decision created a media buzz across the nation and confused many non-believers who do not understand his biblical foundation.

"I was disappointed for quite a while," Northrup admits. "But I got over it, and I held fast to what I was going to do. I've actually had a lot of people behind me, and I've had hundreds of letters to my school and church [from] people...just thanking me for taking a stand for the Lord and my convictions."

Because of wrestling's violent nature, he says he felt it inappropriate to engage a girl in the manner the sport demands, even though the 112-pound athlete was a favorite to win the state title in his weight class.

Personally, I do not believe girls should be wrestling with boys.  There are too many factors involved with this sport which involves the touching of each other in inappropriate places and I believe it was rather cruel of the school to place that kind of pressure on either kid.  The girl won by default and that is completely unfair to this young man, who worked so hard to achieve his winning status.

My opinion folks, but this is another fine example of the LGBT movement pressing its ugly face where it doesn't belong.  There are just some sports where sexes shouldn't mix.

Obama says he will no longer defend marriage law

The Obama administration has announced it will no longer defend in court the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which bans the recognition of same-sex "marriage."

The law defines marriage as a union between one man and one woman, and 30 states have constitutional amendments or laws to the same effect.

Attorney General Eric Holder said,  "President Barack Obama has concluded that the administration cannot defend the federal law that defines marriage as only between a man and a woman. He noted that the congressional debate during passage of the Defense of Marriage Act "contains numerous expressions reflecting moral disapproval of gays and lesbians and their intimate and family relationships _ precisely the kind of stereotype-based thinking and animus the (Constitution's)Equal Protection Clause is designed to guard against."

So, he doesn't like it or agrees with this law and therefore he decided that he and his administration will ignore it nor abide or defend it because it doesn't line up with his own personal ideology.  The president does not have that privilege.  This is not Obamaland, this is the United States of America.

Obama is not a monarch of the United States, even though, he believes he is.  He is an elected official, we pay his salary. He does not have the authority to pick and choose the laws that he "likes" and doesn't "like." His duty is to uphold them.  He is disrespecting our laws, the people and everything that this nation stands for.  Once again we see this vile man spit on the constitution and this country.

I am absolutely appalled, angry and quite frankly, disgusted with this administration.  This is positively anarchy, nuff said.

Wounded Iraq Vet Gets Heckled at Columbia University

New York Post:: Columbia University students heckled a war hero during a town-hall meeting on whether ROTC should be allowed back on campus.

"Racist!" some students yelled at Anthony Maschek, a Columbia freshman and former Army staff sergeant awarded the Purple Heart after being shot 11 times in a firefight in northern Iraq in February 2008. Others hissed and booed the veteran.

Maschek, 28, had bravely stepped up to the mike Tuesday at the meeting to issue an impassioned challenge to fellow students on their perceptions of the military.

"It doesn't matter how you feel about the war. It doesn't matter how you feel about fighting," said Maschek. "There are bad men out there plotting to kill you."

Several students laughed and jeered the Idaho native, a 10th Mountain Division infantryman who spent two years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington recovering from grievous wounds.

Maschek, who is studying economics, miraculously survived the insurgent attack in Kirkuk. In the hail of gunfire, he broke both legs and suffered wounds to his abdomen, arm and chest.
He enrolled last August at the Ivy League school, where an increasingly ugly battle is unfolding over the 42-year military ban there.

More than half of the students who spoke at the meeting -- the second of three hearings on the subject -- expressed opposition to ROTC's return. Many of the 200 students in the audience held anti-military placards with slogans such as, "1 in 3 female soldiers experiences sexual assault in the military."
The university has created a task force polling 10,000 students on the issue, but would not release the vote tally of the 1,300 who have already responded.
In 2005, when the university last voted to reject ROTC's return, it cited the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy.

That policy was overturned in December, but resistance remains.
"Transpeople are part of the Columbia community," said senior Sean Udell at the meeting, referring to the military's current ban on transgender soldiers.
Faculty members are divided.

"Universities should not be involved in military activities," Sociology Professor Emeritus Herbert Gans told The Post. "Columbia should come out against spending $300 billion a year on unnecessary wars."

A group of 34 faculty colleagues, including historian Kenneth Jackson and former Bloomberg adviser Esther Fuchs, plan to announce their support of ROTC tomorrow.

My solution is to de-fund any college campus that refuses to allow ROTC or military personnel on campus grounds.

This type of behavior is abhorrent, reprehensible and downright disgusting.  I am at a loss for words of how I would describe those pathetic, useless individuals that don't give a damn about honoring the men and women who sacrificed their lives so they wouldn't have to.  Ungrateful pieces of dog poo.

God bless Anthony Maschek and all servicemen and women.

Iraq's capital wants the United States to apologize and pay $1 billion

(Reuters) - Iraq's capital wants the United States to apologize and pay $1 billion for the damage done to the city not by bombs but by blast walls and Humvees since the U.S.-led invasion that toppled Saddam Hussein.
The city's government issued its demands in a statement on Wednesday that said Baghdad's infrastructure and aesthetics have been seriously damaged by the American military.
"The U.S. forces changed this beautiful city to a camp in an ugly and destructive way, which reflected deliberate ignorance and carelessness about the simplest forms of public taste," the statement said.
"Due to the huge damage, leading to a loss the Baghdad municipality cannot afford...we demand the American side apologize to Baghdad's people and pay back these expenses."
The statement made no mention of damage caused by bombing.
Baghdad's neighborhoods have been sealed off by miles of concrete blast walls, transforming the city into a tangled maze that contributes to massive traffic jams. Despite a sharp reduction in overall violence in recent years only 5 percent of the walls have been removed, officials said.
The heavy blast walls have damaged sewer and water systems, pavement and parks, said Hakeem Abdul Zahra, the city spokesman.
U.S. military Humvees, driven on street medians and through gardens, have also caused major damage, he said.
"The city of Baghdad feels these violations, which have taken place for years, have caused economic and moral damage," he said.
U.S. troops pulled out of Iraq's cities in June 2009 before formally ending combat operations last August. Around 50,000 remain in Iraq but they are scheduled to withdraw by year end.
Baghdad is badly in need of a facelift. Electricity and trash collection are sporadic, streets are potholed and sewage treatment plants and pipes have not been renovated for years.
Iraq has seen growing protests in recent weeks over poor government services.
Zahra said the city's statement issued on Wednesday would be the start of its measures to get the United States to pay for damages but he did not say what other steps might be taken.
I will keep my comments short on this situation.  First, I would like to say that it is time that the US starts minding its own business and quit being a policeman for every nation that comes crying for help.  We can't afford it, the US is flat broke, in debt, and I see us digging further into our proverbial graves.
Furthermore, I don't think we should use our military men and women as disposable heroes.
It is time for the United States to start protecting its borders, building up our economy and pulling us out of debt.  We need a government with some backbone that will learn to say, "no."  Otherwise, we will be forever rebuilding and paying out the wazoo to other nations.

Obama’s Muslim Brotherhood Ties

Hat tip:  JIHAD WATCH BY ROBERT SPENCER:  Barack Obama has declared that all opposition groups should have representation in the next Egyptian government, which essentially ensures that the Muslim Brotherhood will be part of that government.  The Brotherhood is the largest opposition group in Egypt, so it will probably end up in the driver’s seat in any new regime, and steer Egypt toward becoming an Islamic state inveterately hostile to the United States.

So why isn’t Obama working to limit the Brotherhood’s scope and influence?  Maybe because he doesn’t really have a problem with the Brotherhood, despite its hostility to America.  He made sure to invite Brotherhood leaders to attend his notorious speech to the Islamic world in Cairo, Egypt, in June 4, 2009.  Starting in the earliest days of his administration, he showed an intense desire to establish friendly ties with Brotherhood-linked organizations—despite the Brotherhood’s stated goal of “eliminating and destroying Western civilization from within.”

Obama first reached out to the Brotherhood when he chose the leader of a Muslim Brotherhood-linked group that had been named an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case to give a prayer during his inauguration ceremonies.  Ingrid Mattson, then-president of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), offered this prayer at the National Cathedral on Obama’s Inauguration Day—despite the fact that the ISNA has admitted its ties to the Brotherhood.  The previous summer, federal prosecutors rejected a request from the ISNA to remove its unindicted co-conspirator status.

Obama didn’t ask Mattson to explain the ISNA’s links to the Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas.  On the contrary:  He sent his senior adviser, Valerie Jarrett, to be the keynote speaker at the ISNA’s national convention in 2009.

Even worse, in April 2009, Obama appointed Arif Alikhan, the deputy mayor of Los Angeles, as assistant secretary for policy development at the Department of Homeland Security.  Just two weeks before he received this appointment, Alikhan (who once called the jihad terror group Hezbollah a “liberation movement”) participated in a fund-raiser for the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC).  Like the ISNA, MPAC has links to the Muslim Brotherhood.  In a book titled In Fraternity:  A Message to Muslims in America, co-author Hassan Hathout, a former MPAC president, is identified as “a close disciple of the late Hassan al-Banna of Egypt.  "The MPAC-linked magazine The Minaret spoke of Hathout’s closeness to al-Banna in a 1997 article:  “My father would tell me that Hassan Hathout was a companion of Hassan al-Banna. ... Hassan Hathout would speak of al-Banna with such love and adoration; he would speak of a relationship not guided by politics or law but by a basic sense of human decency.”

The late al-Banna, of course, was the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Terror researcher Steven Emerson’s Investigative Project has documented MPAC’s indefatigable and consistent opposition to virtually every domestic anti-terror initiative.  Its magazine The Minaret has dismissed key counterterror operations as part of “[t]he American crusade against Islam and Muslims.”  For his part, while Alikhan was deputy mayor of Los Angeles, he blocked a Los Angeles Police Department project to assemble data about the ethnic makeup of mosques in the Los Angeles area.  This was not an attempt to conduct surveillance of the mosques or monitor them in any way.  LAPD Deputy Chief Michael P. Downing explained that it was actually an outreach program:  “We want to know where the Pakistanis, Iranians, and Chechens are so we can reach out to those communities.”  But Alikhan and other Muslim leaders said that the project manifested racism and “Islamophobia,” and the LAPD ultimately discarded all plans to study the mosques.

The Muslim Brotherhood is a pro-Sharia group.  Obama’s chief adviser on Islamic affairs, Dalia Mogahed, is a pro-Sharia Muslim.  In their Gallup survey published under the hubristic title "Who Speaks for Islam?  What A Billion Muslims Really Think," Mogahed and Saudi-funded dhimmi, or non-Muslim, pseudo-academic John Esposito cooked their data to increase the number of Muslim “moderates,” counting as “moderate” Muslims who wanted Sharia rule, hated America , supported jihad-martyrdom suicide bombing, and opposed equality of rights for women.  Mogahed also defended Sharia on a British TV show.

With Brotherhood operatives in the American government and working closely with it, thanks to Barack Obama, it’s no surprise that he would have no problem with their being part of the Egyptian government too.

This article pretty much sums up what most conservatives have known for a while.  Obama is definitely a Muslim sympathizer and truly embraces what they represent.  I cannot fully go on to say that he is a Muslim, but I suspect, that it may be so.  He is not forthcoming to that accusation.

However, I am positive that he is a liar and deceiver about his Christian faith.  There are seven wonderful fundamentals on being a Christian and he pretty much failed them all.  Maybe on another post I will list them for you and explain them in detail.  I believe this post is long enough.  May God bless America and Israel and forgive us for electing such a man to office.

Push to de-fund Planned Parenthood gaining momentum

OneNewsNow: Congressman Mike Pence says efforts to defund Planned Parenthood "once and for all" may be within reach.

In an interview Friday morning on American Family Radio's Financial Issues program, Congressman Mike Pence (R-Indiana) said his efforts to do away with federal funding of Planned Parenthood are growing -- and not just with Republicans.

Rep. Mike Pence (R-Indiana)"There are now more than 160 co-sponsors -- Republicans and some Democrats -- who are coming together to say that no more public funding will flow into Title X clinics," he shared. "I believe we're reaching a point where we can end public funding for Planned Parenthood once and for all."

Pence noted that Planned Parenthood's latest annual report shows the abortion-provider took in more than $350 million in federal and state grants, as well as some private donations. At the same time, he added, Planned Parenthood boasted of having performed more than 300,000 abortions.

This is great news!!  I will be one of the loudest cheering if and when Planned Parenthood is left to stand on its own two feet. They and NARAL need to be shut down permanently.  I would probably even dance a jig.

No more innocent lives should be brutally taken.  America needs to learn that all life no matter what stage in development they are in is precious.

20 most beautiful classic actresses

Was watching Quantum Leap and the episode was about Marilyn Monroe. The women from the 40's and 50's just had this natural beauty that not one actress today can compare to.

The video is a bit long but notice how none of them are rail thin but just show off their natural curves. That's real beauty.

And one more thing, I still believe that Marilyn Monroe was murdered.

New York TV Exec Convicted of Beheading Wife

CBN News: A jury in western New York convicted a Muslim television executive on Monday of beheading his wife in 2009.

Muzzammil "Mo" Hassan, who never denied killing his spouse, was found guilty of second-degree murder after one hour of deliberation.

The 40-year-old is the founder of Bridges TV, a television station in Buffalo that was established to counter negative stereotypes of Muslims.

Hassan, who served as his own lawyer, claimed he was justified in killing his wife since he was a long-time victim of domestic abuse - an argument jurors ultimately rejected.

"Think of Aasiya's hurt and pain in years of marriage and the final 30 or 40 seconds, trying desperately to fend off his two knives with her hands and possibly being conscious as he began to behead her," prosecutor Colleen Curtin Gablesaid during a closing statement.

He was justified, he suffered pain???  Did you see the size of the guy and how small his wife was.  What a joke!  And I am sure some idiots ate up all the lies.  And felt pity for him. I pity the poor woman who was probably the one being mentally and physically abused for years.

The Pakistan-born Muslim had been served divorce papers one week before police found the body of his wife, Aasiya Hassan, at the tv station. She was stabbed more than 40 times and decapitated, prompting speculation her death was an honor killing.

"He separated the mind, which he saw as worthless, and kicked it," said attorney Nadia Shahram, who lectures on the effects of religion and culture on family law at the University at Buffalo.

Hassan faces up to 25 years to life in prison for the murder. He will be sentenced by a judge March 9.

Here is another great example of Muslim "honor killing" and it is sick that it is happening in the United States.

Michigan School District Allows Sikh Students to Wear Religious Dagger to School

A Detroit-area district says it's allowing Sikh students to wear a small, religious dagger to school, MyFoxDetroit.com reports.

The decision by the Plymouth-Canton Community Schools reverses a ban put in place in December after a fourth-grader at a Canton Township elementary school was found with a dull, 3- to 5-inch kirpan.
The kirpan represents a commitment to fight evil in the Sikh tradition. The dagger is a religious symbol that baptized Sikh males are expected to carry.

The principal initially let the boy keep the kirpan, but the school board instituted a ban because of parental concerns and conflicts with the district's rules against bringing weapons to school.
The Detroit Free Press and WXYZ-TV report that under the new guidelines, kirpans meeting certain criteria will be allowed for Sikh students.

So, let's get this straight, okay? Christians are banned from carrying bibles, crosses and even water pistols to school, but a male Sikh student is allowed to carry a 4-to-5-inch kirpan (aka dagger?) This is outrageous!

And the world wonders why American kids are falling behind in learning?  Look at some of the morons running and teaching in our schools!

This is totally and completely outrageous!  To hell with being politically correct it is time to toss that crap out the window and start focusing on what is important, EDUCATION! Keep the politics outside and start teaching arithmetic, language, reading, etc!  And fire the teachers who refuse to do so.
