Martial Arts - Karate and Aikido - Nuns learn them as self-defense

Still not up to discussing politics, but I ran across this video. It goes without saying, "Don't mess with a Nun!"

Good grief!!

I would never mess with nuns... they have friends in high places

That's the truth! Wow!

Having an inquiring mind, I find myself asking, are those really nuns? I haven't seen any Roman Catholic nuns wearing that type of habit in years.

This is good news. I think every woman needs to know how to defend herself. A good self-defense class is valuable, but a real karate class is much better. I took Karate for years and did very well.

Right Truth

Abouna, they are in some foreign country, not sure where?

Debbie, great advice, but the classes around here are sooo....expensive. I wish I could take them, though. There have been 11 brutal rapes in our area and that sick scum bag is still roaming the streets.

I enjoyed watching that. I studied self defense as well for 8 years. Although I haven't done it in a while you still never forget some essential techniques, plus it makes you very aware of your surroundings. Where we went there were contracts. You paid each time you went .
I agreee with Debbie it should be a requirement for all women.

Nice. Cube has a valid point.

Reverend: They still do dress like that in other countries. I've seen them in habits in Germany and Latin America.

Martial arts are a great way to learn self-defense and stay in shape.

Lisa, I also agree. Women need to learn how to defend themselves. It would be nice if that had martial arts or karate as part of gym class.

MK, right!

Silver, yep they do.

Go Nuns! That was awesome.

A good number of the conservative orders wear those type of habits. Its the good for nothing lib nuns/sisters who have abandoned the habit and now wear whatever they want to wear.

I like the idea of having that as part of school curriculum Leticia?
do you live in the NY area? I would be happy to teach you a few pointers.
